Dealing With:-

WEIGHT LOSS

- Small frequent snacks throughout the day
- Use high fat and high sugar products
- Add tinned cream, butter, cheese and sugar to your diet
- Avoid large amounts of low energy foods - fruit/veg may make you feel full
- Take dietary supplements e.g. Build-Up, Complan & those suggested by Dietitian

NAUSEA & VOMITTING

- Avoid the sight/smell of specific foods if they make you feel nauseous
- Avoid spicy, fatty, greasy/fried foods
- Try cold foods that do not have strong odours
- Try ginger flavours - ginger biscuits
- Eat small portions/snacks
- Avoid large meals
- Try travel sickness bands
- Eat in a ventilated room
- Do not eat and drink together - have fluids between meals

SORE MOUTH

- Cold foods are often soothing
- Avoid rough foods e.g. toast, crisp breads, crisps
- Keep food moist with sauces
- Suck boiled sweets
- Try milky drinks

SWALLOWING PROBLEMS

- Food should be soft and chewed well before swallowing
- Have a drink with your meal

CONSTIPATION

- Try a high fibre breakfast cereal e.g. Weetabix, Bran Flakes
- Use wholemeal products - rice, pasta, bread
- Digestive and oat style biscuits
- Fruit,vegetables, pulses and beans
- Drink plenty of fluid (8-10 cups daily)

DIARRHOEA

- Ensure that you drink plenty of fluid
- Avoid foods high in insoluble fibre e.g. high fibre breakfast cereals and wholemeal products
